Purpose of the role:
Provide efficient, legal, and safe operation of a company's vehicle fleet. This role involves overseeing the transport operations, look after compliance, comply with all relevant legislation, optimising the logistics processes, and managing transport activities. Plan and optimise transport routes to maximise efficiency and reduce costs.
About the role
The role involves managing compliance with Operator's Licence Regulations, Health and Safety Regulations, and company policies. Key responsibilities include proactively addressing driver tachograph infringements through debriefing and retraining, as necessary, and overseeing vehicle maintenance, servicing, and inspections to ensure legal compliance. The role requires ensuring adherence to EU Drivers’ Hours rules, Working Time Directives, and Operator’s Licence undertakings, while maintaining accurate records of drivers' hours and tachograph data. Additionally, the role involves managing vehicle first use checks, defect reporting, and the rectification process, along with identifying and minimizing workplace hazards. Responsibilities extend to processing Notices of Intended Prosecution in line with company disciplinary policies, investigating road traffic collisions to identify root causes, and ensuring corrective action is taken. Staying informed of legal changes affecting transport operations is also essential.
About you
You are experienced in fleet management and transport legal compliance, with extensive knowledge in Operators Licence Management (Standard National). You excel in leading, developing, and inspiring teams, drawing from your experience in management roles within fast-paced and dynamic environments. You're skilled at managing conduct and capability issues, always striving to maintain high standards.
Passionate about delivering premium service, you are a team player and role model who leads by example. You have a talent for motivating, coaching, and developing team members, and you possess strong people management skills, including handling performance and disciplinary matters, grievances, and team-building efforts.
You are adept at managing targets and KPIs, solving problems, and coming up with innovative solutions. In a pressured environment, you can effectively multitask and work to tight deadlines, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach to planning, organizing, and delegating tasks.
Driven by a commitment to quality and health & safety standards, you possess excellent communication skills and are able to engage effectively at all levels. Flexible with work patterns, you're prepared to manage at various times of the day and take a positive approach to any reasonable tasks requested by the management team.
