Purpose of the role
Leading and inspiring a Regional Area Sales Team focused on wine, you'll support them to deliver our key commercial strategic priorities to win more Customers, win a greater share of the customer, and build our owned and agency brands within the customer. You will coach and support the team to achieve and exceed sales, profit, and margin targets. As part of the regional leadership team, you will also contribute to the development and execution of the Regional Business Plan.

- Lead, coach, and motivate a small team to achieve sales goals and maintain high performance.
- Foster a customer-first culture by understanding key customer needs, improving their experience, managing expectations, and driving business growth.
- Proactively resolve operational issues to minimise disruption and identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure timely completion of processes, including expenses, price reviews, margin reports, and new business pipeline.
- Assist the team in managing and renegotiating key accounts.
- Organise relevant and engaging events across the territory to grow C&C’s wine profile and account base.
- Support and lead the team in delivering annual sales targets.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to establish win-win solutions for customers and the business.
- Analyse and maintain industry knowledge of competitors and their products.
- Manage a small account base including some key account relationships, and exceed personal sales targets.
- Continually review key KPI reports to identify and address performance issues or opportunities within the team.
- Recruit high-calibre individuals with potential for future development.
- Focus on team capability and development.
- Establish the team as the leading wine experts within the region.
About you
- Proven experience in selling wine to trade customers.
- Strong wine knowledge
- Advanced certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), preferably Diploma Level, demonstrating a high level of wine knowledge and expertise
- Ongoing commitment to professional development through participation in wine industry seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Logical, organised, and self-motivated approach.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrable understanding of costing calculations and budgets.
- Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel.
- Good general level of education.
- Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently within company procedures.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively, fostering a culture of respect, trust, and ownership. Demonstrates strong leadership skills by aligning the team with business goals and encouraging a competitive yet supportive environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ensuring clear, concise, and effective communication with key internal stakeholders and external customers. Maintains best-in-class communication standards.
- Builds strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholder teams to collectively optimise team performance. Encourages teamwork and effective collaboration within the team and across departments.
- Proficient in analysing sales and performance data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and exceed sales targets. Uses data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and improve overall performance.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs. Demonstrates flexibility in managing priorities and delivering on multiple projects and objectives simultaneously.
- Committed to developing and mentoring the team to deliver the regional sales plan. Focuses on personal development goals and undertakes specific projects aligned with business needs.
- This role requires regular travel to meet role requirements and business objectives. Flexibility and a valid UK driving licence are essential.
