    About the role

    You'll support the Financial Accounting team in terms of journal postings, reconciliations, invoicing, overheads and operations process, control, reporting and variance analysis.

    Key Duties

    • Maintaining accurate balances sheets, particularly in relation to stock and duty, including calculation of stock provisions.
    • Ensure all duty submissions are completed accurately and on time, in compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Support the preparation and submission of monthly results and quarterly forecasts to Group, in line with C&C reporting requirements.
    • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed, resolving any issues in a timely manner.
    • Support the audit relationship with EY and be a main point of contact for the relevant balance sheet areas.
    • Collaborate with other teams to provide guidance and solutions on technical accounting matters.
    • Work closely with the Master Data team to resolve issues related to standard costing and ensure data accuracy.
    • Understand system generated postings and flagging issues where necessary, working with colleagues in other departments to resolve problems.
    • Drive improvements in financial processes to enhance compliance, control, and commercial value across the MCB business.
    • Participate in business improvement initiatives, including system testing and documentation of process changes.
    • Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider finance leadership team on various tasks throughout the year.
    • Oversee the completion and submission of Office for National Statistics surveys.

    About you

    • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
    • Hands-on experience managing and accounting for stock, including valuation, provisions, and reconciliation.
    • Previous line management experience, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members effectively.
    • Naturally inquisitive, driven, and keen to improve reporting and processes.
    • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems. JDE experience is desirable.
    • Financial accounting and reporting: Experienced – Strong understanding of financial reporting frameworks and regulatory environment, and related developments.
    • Business partner: Evolving – uses financial knowledge and knowledge of business to contribute to the decision-making process.
    • Business analysis: Evolving - has good knowledge of analysis techniques and is able to use them correctly.
